ALL proceeds go to the development and maintenance of the trails system in Jonestown, TX
Why we do this
Jonestown, TX is a small town with a small Parks Department that does BIG things! But the budget wasn't so big. So we decided that if we wanted better parks and trails, we should help out! That's how the Lakeside Challenge 5K began. The pictures tell the rest of the story!

ALL proceeds from the event go to the Jonestown Parks Development fund for the purpose of developing and embellishing the trails system in our parks.

The Jonestown city parks are FREE TO THE PUBLIC and we aim to keep it that way! So come see all that Jonestown has to offer and enjoy the great outdoors with us!

2012
In 2012, we had torrential downpours during the weeks leading up to the race. It hadn't rained much all year. We prayed for a window to run in, and 15 minutes before race time, suddenly, the rain just stopped. It didn't start up again until a few hours after the race was finished! In spite of it all, 35 brave runners lined up at 8am to run the course! It was amazing!
2011
Our inaugural year - after months of 100 degree weather, we arrived that morning to 60's! It was brisk, but the runners were ready! It was a great start to what is fast becoming a Jonestown tradition!

2013
In 2014, we added another dimension to our event with our SMALL FRY RUN - an abbreviated version of our 5K for kids 11 & under. We gave the SMALL FRY RUN their own logo, t-shirt and flavor, by incorporating crafts and games for the kiddos to enjoy while the adults ran the 5K. All small frys get their own t-shirt and age-appropriate goodie bag as well!
